The first celebratory new beer for Utopian's 5th Anniversary year is an unusal one as its a can - conditioned IPA.
They're big fans of traditional brewing techniques and of course using 100% British grown ingredients and this beer fits very snuggly with both of those. They have been brewing cask ales for a while now so wanted to use this opportunity to make cask ale available in a can.
Shortly before packaging the beer is ‘primed; with sugar and yeast so that the final conditioning of the beer can take place in the can in much the same way as it does in a traditional cask. This helps to develop the flavour of the beer and rounds out the carbonation.
This beer is packed with British hops on a base of traditional Maris Otter malt. British Akoya hops give the beer a pronounced but not overpowering bitterness along with the Godiva and EKG to add a punch of orange marmalade, spice and citrus.
