NEWSLETTER #42

4 new beers from Beak this week. In addition to a couple of very fresh (canned on 19th Sept!) hop forward beers we've come to expect from Beak, we also have It is Forbidden, a Verdant Brewing DIPA collab and Oodles, a peach melba sour.

Oodles is brewed with half a tonne of peach and raspberry puree, it's got a velvety smooth mouthfeel and huge fruit character balanced by ear tickling levels of juicy acidity!

Vault City are back, pushing the limits as only they can

Dark Fruits Cooke Dough Dreamcake is a vegan friendly dessert sour infused with mountains of juicy blackcurrants and blackberries whilst the sweetness from vegan cookie dough and coconut round out the aroma and flavour for a beautifully balanced 8% modern sour beer.

At the other end of the scale there's Tahiti Treat, a low alcohol sour collaboration with Mash Gang. Expect waves of rum punch among juicy mango and pineapple and a subtle sharpness from lime juice.

SPECIALS!

I hate to use the term "if you know, you know", but in the case of Old Chimneys Brewery, never has a phrase been so accurate or deserving.

With consistent top marks on all the ratings sites for almost a DECADE, Good King Henry Special Reserve is an absolute behemoth of a brew.

In the absence of a 2019 vintage due to Master Brewer Alan Thomson winding down Old Chimneys, the 2020 vintage has completed its customary two-year hibernation and is now ready to be unleashed unto the world. If you're a fan of classic, adjunct free Imperial Stouts, don't sit on these!

However, if you do like your stouts laden to the hilt with adjuncts then look no further than To Ol's Barrel Aged Mexican Hot Chocolate.

An Imperial Milk Stout aged for 12 months in Bourbon barrels with additions of Walnuts, Almonds, Hazelnuts, Pecans, Cinnamon, Cacao nibs and Chillies (contains lactose too).
