the-newt-cydr-tasting

Coming up we’ve our first in-store tasting with Somerset’s ‘The Newt’ this Saturday 30th October from 12 - 4pm - producers of some of the country’s finest Cyder (not just our words, they’re renowned and they really are deserving of the title).

FRESH IN

This week we've got some belting beers in for you. Let's start with Burning Sky - we've restocked on family favourite 'Arise' and for darker beer fans, this years brew of 'Snap Decision' - their hoppy American Brown ale is now in. That's alongside West Coast Blues and their delicious Belgian style Wit, 'Blanche'. Hands down one of the my favourite breweries in the land, go grab some!

Next up is the welcome (and much demanded) return of Pressure Drop. 'Pale Fire' is about as close to excellence as you'll get from a sessionable pale ale. Alongside that, we've got 'Fashion' - their classic, robust London style Porter. No frills, just a great dark beer. And for you fans of juice we've picked up 4 of their latest New England IPA's - a lovely range from the dank to full of fruit fest, including Vice Champion and Karate.

Crossing the water now, one of our all time favourite German breweries - Tegernseer - have landed, we've got the quite rare (or not often seen) Pilsner and their Dunkel. If German beers and/or lagers are your thing, go and buy these now before they go, I assure you you'll not be disappointed.

Back on this fair isle, we're up in Aberdeen next with Fierce Beer. 'Cafe Racer' is an award winning coffee & vanilla porter. And it's lovely, smooth and decadent. And I couldn't resist getting in their latest fruit pale - 'Another Peach' quite simply because it sounds absolutely delicious.

We've got fresh Lightbulb in from Verdant as well as their juicy Citra hopped IPA - 'I Played Trumpet On That Tune'.

Drop Project feature for the first time (we've enjoyed their beers in the pubs recently) - Bombo 2 is a lovely Kveik NEIPA, loads of tropical stone fruit notes and J-Tear - a triple fruited sour.

Lost & Grounded have just released their seasonal Red Ale (or their tribute to a Belgian style Dubbel) 'No Rest For Dancers' and we've topped up on Keller Pils because it is one of the UK's best lagers after all. Tonbridge Brewery are back on the shelves too and we've a cracking new bitter in from Macintosh Ales - a proper little microbrewery based in Hammersmith producing what is a really cracking Bitter.

Finally, you might need a snack to soak all this up. So we've just taken in some really super tasty snacks from Howdah. Not only do these Indian inspired snacks taste great, they also support a great cause - every bag purchased also buys a meal for a kid in need. That's something I think we can all support and get behind. And for those of you who are big fans of our beer sticks from Moons Green - well we've got some grab & go packs in too - including tubes for gifting too!

NEW WINES

Over the past week we've taken in lots of lovely new wines - we've had some lovely bits land from Spain - from Grifoll Declara based in the Priorat region, in the North East producing some utterly delicious reds from old mountain vines (seriously, check out the Centenaries from something to really wow you).

Bodegas Perica also produce some delicious Spanish wines - we've got their smooth and soft Rose in alongside their Tempranillo, aged 6 months in oak. Both great value for the quality of the juice!

And finally - Woolton Wines landed last weekend. We've got their Bacchus and Rose in. The Bacchus, produced all from their own grapes grown on the farm near Canterbury is full flavoured & bold, loads of gooseberry and subtle tropical fruit notes. The Rose is a bit softer, creamier and smoother with subtle strawberry and raspberry notes.
